Registering for Skilled Migrant Online Services will allow you to complete an online Expression of Interest and if eligible, submit an Expression of Interest as a first step to applying for residence in New Zealand as a skilled migrant. You will also be able to view the status of your Expression of Interest. When submitting an Expression of Interest, you will need to pay an application fee by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) either online or manually, or by bank cheque. Each time you use Skilled Migrant Online Services, you will be asked to identify yourself with your User Name and Password. You could lose access to your personal information if you can’t provide the correct User Name. You will also be responsible for any incorrect or unauthorised use of your User Name and Password. So make your User Name and Password easy to remember and keep them confidential.
The term “Expression of Interest” used by Skilled Migrant Online Services refers to the completion of an online form, which, if it meets our criteria, can be submitted to the New Zealand Immigration Service. If your Expression of Interest is submitted successfully it will be entered into a Pool and prioritised in terms of points claimed. Following some checking, those with the top points will be selected from the Pool and sent an official invitation to apply for residence. When a decision on your Expression of Interest has been made, you will be notified by email and you will also be able to check the status of your Expression of Interest by viewing your Skilled Migrant Online Services homepage. If your Expression of Interest is not selected from the Pool the first time it will remain in the Pool for three months. If it is still unsuccessful, we will tell you that your Expression of Interest has been withdrawn from the Pool. Your Expression of Interest, and any other details that you enter when using this website will be retained by the New Zealand Immigration Service and will be electronically available to the New Zealand Immigration Service Branches and our National Contact Centre. All steps have been taken to ensure that the New Zealand Immigration Service policy is adhered to in all respects, and in accordance with the New Zealand Immigration Service Operational Manual, Immigration Act 1987 including subsequent amendments and regulations. Expressions of Interest selected from the Pool will be subject to approval by an Immigration or Visa Officer.
Payment of your EOI fee can be made through Skilled Migrant Online Services using Visa™ or MasterCard™ Credit Cards. All payments are conducted in New Zealand Dollars ($), and the New Zealand Immigration Service accepts no risk or liability where foreign exchange rates may prove unfavourable. The New Zealand Government charges a Goods and Services Tax (GST) on all Goods and Services in New Zealand, including New Zealand Immigration Service applications. This Tax is included as part of the standard fee. Payments are accepted for the processing of the Expression of Interest, and do not constitute in any way, an approval of an Expression of Interest. Following payment an Expression of Interest could be approved or declined in a New Zealand Immigration Service Branch where an Expression of Interest has been transferred for further processing. The New Zealand Immigration Service is not obligated to provide any form of refund if an Expression of Interest is declined for any reason. A secure system for processing credit card transactions is provided by Westpac Banking Corporation.
